This website is only a short description of the voluntary fire brigade Schönberg. The most important reason for an English version of this website are contacts to a British and a Swedish fire brigade. But everybody is welcomed on that page! Youth Fire Brigade
The training of young people is an important part of the fire brigade. There's a group of ten to fifteen boys and girls, who learn theoretical and practical opportunities to extinguish a fire, rescue people in danger or take care of injured persons. They learn these methods with much fun but also seriousness. They take part in competitions. So, they get a very good and fundamental preparation for the future job as a fire fighter.
Fire enginges
The voluntary fire brigade Schönberg has one action leading car (model 1999), one ladder engine (model 1983) and three other fire engines (model 1985, 1991 and 1998), which are used for transport of crew and equipment. Furthermore the voluntary fire brigade Schönberg has an old traditional fire enginge (model 1961). All these fire enginges are kept in a modern, air-conditioned fire station.
History
The voluntary fire brigade Schönberg was offcially founded on March 12th, 1925. Until today the fire brigade Schönberg has developed into a modern fire brigade, which takes fire fighting and technical assistance but also serves as a base fire brigade in the occupation area of the department Schönberger Land.
National and International partnerships
Since 1990 we join a partnership together with the Ratzeburg fire brigade. Ratzeburg is also twin town of the town of Schönberg.
The fire brigade Schönberg is in contact to a British fire brigade. Fire fighters from Peterborough visited us in 1995 and 2005. Fire fighters from Schönberg have been in Petersborough.
Actually the town of Schönberg is preparing a town twinning with the Swedish community Färgelanda. In February and May of 2005 there were meetings between town councillors from Schönberg and Färgelanda. Also the fire brigade of Färgelanda states interests for a partnership. That would be great.
